I listen to your Stonewall episode every June as a reminder of the heritage my community affords me. It’s silly to me that so many unfactual tropes are circulated about this narrative when the story told in your research borders on the mythic, the epic, and the poetic. Who cares about the first brick when the real story is that every single letter of the acronym was present and together and held a piece of kindling in lighting this fire? How does one not feel a thrill down their spine in the mystery of the anonymous voice over the radio waves who made sure police reinforcements never arrived? Or in the sheer timing that staid any fatalities, allowing a legacy of youth and vibrance and joy when so much of our history must be lent to mourning the dead? This story, like all the others you tell, is fulfilling to me on a spiritual and communal level. I listen to every episode. Thank you for the work you do! (Some Cops Are Worse.)
